It is a family friendly resort with good amenities and a wealth of recreational facilities.

Who Is Albir Popular With?
Albir is essentially a family resort attracting those with young children. Families enjoy the pebbly beach and the various children’s attractions. Water sports enthusiasts will find plenty to occupy their days including water skiing. Albir is also popular with older couples looking for a relaxing break in pleasant surroundings.
When To Go To Albir
The most popular time to take an Albir holiday is from April to October when the temperature ranges from a very pleasant twenty five degrees rising to the early thirties in the height of summer.
Albir – The Place
Albir, just north of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca, is a quiet resort favoured by families and couples. Surrounded by low hills, Albir lies around a wide bay. The beach, Playa de Raco de l’Albir, is composed of pebbles and holds Blue Flag status. A boulevard runs along the length of the beach and has many bars and cafes serving daylong refreshments. The beach offers safe bathing for children and less confident swimmers and in the summer season lifeguards are always present. A variety of water sports are available from the beach. These include windsurfing, waterskiing, banana boating and doughnut rides. The beach also has two children’s playgrounds. Albir also has a golf course with a driving range.
The village centre and the seafront have many cafes and restaurants serving a variety of food including British fare. There are shops for essential provisions as well as a multitude of gift and souvenir shops. There are shops galore in Benidorm, five kilometres south of the resort, and there is a regular bus service to the town.
There are many tourist attractions in Benidorm that can be enjoyed by visitors to Albir. These include the Terre Mitica theme park, based on ancient civilisations, a popular attraction with thrilling rides and Aqualandia, a water park with daring slides. At Rincon de Loix, Mundomar the marine and exotic animal park has dolphins, sea lions and penguins, as well as birds and other small creatures. A submarine can be taken to Benidorm Island, a conservation area three kilometres out into the bay, where the clear waters enable the visitor to see the teeming marine life.
An Albir holiday offers a guarantee of warm sunshine in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere with a wealth of recreational facilities both in and out of the water.
Albir Nightlife
Albir nightlife is low-key, reflecting its popularity with families and older couples. Evenings are spent strolling along the seafront enjoying a meal and a drink in the company of family and friends. Those looking for livelier times can take a taxi or bus to Benidorm where the clubs, discos and karaoke bars, all serving low cost drinks, is a magnet for fun lovers.
Albir Shopping
As in all Spanish coastal resorts there are many beach, gift and souvenir shops. Supermarkets supply holiday provisions and, if more variety is needed, there is a hypermarket down the road in Benidorm. There are also markets in Benidorm on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as a flea market in El Cisne on Sundays. Traditional local handicrafts such as wickerwork, ceramics and leather goods, as well as a wide assortment of souvenirs and trinkets are widely available.
Albir Eating
Albir has restaurants, cafes and tapas bars catering for all tastes from fast food outlets to traditional fish restaurants and restaurants serving international cuisine. There are many restaurants that satisfy the needs of the less adventurous north eropeans’ palate. A good way to try Spanish food is to order a plate of tapas which consists of a medley of bite-sized dishes. Tapas are also ideal for filling the sometimes long gap between lunch and dinner, which is served later in Spain than at home.
Children are always made very welcome in Spanish restaurants and their tastes and portion sizes are usually accommodated.
Local wines are pleasant and inexpensive.
